F21 SPR10

Forever 21's Spring lookbook - beads, florals, lace, curls, tea-party dresses; what more could you want?

I wish Forever 21 would set up shop in Australia *sigh*, it's affordable and cute and good for my students' budget!

Prada's Aussie Invasion

Hmmm, I don't think many would have realised, but there was an Australian slant on the quintessentially Italian interpretation of fifties women at the Prada autumn/winter 2010/11 show. Catherine McNeil made a return to the runway, and Abbey Lee smouldered in Miuccia Prada’s incredible clothes which celebrate so well the female form.

Catherine McNeil and Abbey Lee give the Prada show an Australian flavour.

But it was the surprising appearance of Miranda Kerr who caused double takes in the front row.

Among the collection I'm loving the clever tailoring in dramatic dresses and double breasted coats.

I also dig the featured PVC skirts, chunky knit &, cats eye sunglasses - retro appeal with contemporary strength.

These women are one part sexy librarian, two parts femme fatale and I seriously can't wait for people's interpretations of this look!

Wildfox Couture Fall '10 Lookbook

I love Wildfox Couture; can you see why? Wildfox couture's lookbooks are always so amaazing! This one is based on a cute little story which goes with the lookbook telling the tale of three girls who obtain magical powers. I obviously couldn’t post the whole thing, but here is just a snapshot of the wonderful clothes and photography!

You can ogle and drool at the rest of the shoot at ilovewildfox.

Blue Suede Shoes

I've been listening to so much Elvis these days, because of the musical I am in. The song Blue Suede Shoes made me get onto Google to find some.

These Kurt Geiger booties aren't quite what Elvis would've had in mind, but aren't they great?!

Love the "wild animal" connotations with the animal print and mask. So cute!

More Alexander McQueen

I have always admired the things he has done and I truly am sad that he is not going to appear on anymore runways or design anymore wacky pieces for us to be mind-boggled over. If you missed my first post it's here.

HAPPY V-DAY & NEW YEAR.

I'm sure everyone is filled with warm, happy sappy love today if they have a significant other. I got roses from my loved one (and loved ones) as you can see above, and yummy brekkie, awwww! My school also had a cake stall and we were selling the most gorgeous heart shaped biscuits and cakes!

And if you are single, you should be pampering yourself. I mean, if you don't love yourself, who else can?

Nod your heads in agreement, guys.

"But 'New Year'?", you ask. "New Year's Day was over a month ago!"

No, no, I'm not going crazy; it's Lunar New Year today! The very first day of 2010 according to the moon. I had a fantastic time last night at Dragon Boat restarant with family. They had "lion dances" and (mediocre Aussie style) Chinese food and heaps of festive spirit, not to mention those red envelopes filled with money - time to go shopping? ;)

I also wore a really old red tartan skirt of mine - $6 from Dotti years ago!
According to mum, red is a lucky colour so I dug it out and in the end it didn't look too bad teamed with a vintage denim vest and tights!

Whew, what a busy weekend! Valentine's Day plus Chinese New Year!

Hope everyone had as much fun as I did.

Alexander McQueen

I first heard it on the radio on the way to school.
"British fashion designer Alexander McQueen was found dead in his home..."
I gasped. Out loud.

What an amazing man; it's sad that he had so much capability yet had reason to take his own life...

Here are just some of the amazing moments:

Fall 2006

Spring 2010

Spring 2008 - Dedicated to Isabella, his muse, who also committed suicide.

And let's not forget the feather cocoon, a gilded bodysuit and cage-like bustier, some more unusual pieces that cemented McQueen's name into the fashion hall-of-fame.

Of course, the runway shows will go on in New York, Milan and Paris over the next few weeks. But they really won't be the same without him.

Stockings Galore

I'll tell you a little secret: I am obssessed with tights at the moment. Okay, so it is still summer here, but any hint of cooler weather is an excuse to pull out the black, the sheers, the patterned etc. So I totally dig these tights from Les Queues De Sardines:

Unusual, stylish, elegant - what more do you want? x
