BLUE & GREEN

The old fashion adage "Blue & green can never be seen"? I say nonsense, blue & green are great friends...

Cue shirt, Forever New jeans, Colette chain, Sportsgirl boots & sunnies.

I just realised my collar is flipped up in every one of these photos...fail. Haha. These green pants are a personal fave of mine because they are such a dark shade that actually suits my skintone unlike any other green! The Cue shirt was an investment into a timeless piece & I think it's time the fashion rules were broken anyway. I'm so happy I can actually put on some Autumnal clothing - haven't worn jeans in a couple of months now!

Oh yeah & the main reason I thought of green for today is that this year the Pantone Colour of the Year is Emerald Green...hmm not a colour I've ever been a fan of, particularly. Since I'm Asian & yellow, anything with a tinge of green makes me look sickly usually. I did want to acknowledge the prettiness of the colour though, but I don't own any.

SO. ANYWAY. Here are some examples of the fantabulous green I mentioned above:

Yay? Or nay? You decide.

CHINA • TOWN

Last weekend was belated Valentine's Day date night for Justin & I.

We both worked all day on the actual date so didn't really do anything. I've never really celebrated V-day before seeing as usually I'm single at the time, but this time 'round looks like I got spoilt!

This is my outfit & this is how I felt on the day. YEAHH BOI.

Wearing: agent ninetynine leopard crop from General Pants, American Apparel chiffon skirt, Sportsgirl sunnies, Volcom bag & Diva rings.

Yeah, Justin's never really been a photo person - whereas I am a selfie queen as you can see :P
He picked me a cute little pink flower on our walk to the train station, I'm usually no romantic but I found this pretty sweet :)

Chinatown in Melbourne CBD is such a lively and fun place to be - and really popular too! We planned to eat at Shanghai Dumpling House which is a favourite of ours, but the line out the door wasn't really too encouraging! In the end we settled for the restaurant next door "Shanghai Noodle House" because they still had dumplings :)

After dinner, we had a nice wander around the place - very interesting place. We saw some loud buskers singing in Chinese, cute little malls which sold Pokemon cards, and small tidbits of history & culture all around us. All in all, I highly recommend Chinatown next time you wanna go out for a good feed because all the places we saw looked cheap & extremely yummmy. Will definitely be back for Round II sometime soon!

Oh, and this is what Justin got me as a gift for Valentine's Day (even though I asked for nothing!)

I've always been a sucker for roses. & that chocolate massage sounds just heavenly!! Hope all of you lovely readers had an awesome Valentine's Day (or Singles Awareness Day as it used to be called for me haha)!!

FAME AGENDA • DONKEY SKIN

This is Fame Agenda's collection "Donkey Skin", which is being released in Australia as a resort collection. The unusual name of this collection is derived from a translation of a 1600s twisted, Cinderella-type fairytale. Designers Monica Lim and Holly Chandra were inspired by the story & its folkloric ideas to create clothing that harks straight from the scene of a Brothers Grimm fable.

The label has commissioned several off-beat, mixed-media works by Melbourne artist Louis Kanzo to support the collection, some of which are seen in the photos below. I think it's a beautiful concept! :)

The references to the fairytales/mythology are subtle, and the result is a collection full of wonders - oceanic prints, metallic and shiny embroidery, quirky shapes juxtaposed with flirty mesh, and oh you can't forget that goldfish print. It's so cute yet somehow effortless...and I really wouldn't mind those goldfish emblazoned pieces. Seriously!

Fame Agenda's "Donkey Skin" collection is due in stores this month, so be sure to keep an eye out for these stunning pieces! :)

& also - HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR EVERYBODY! It's officially the Year of the Snake now woooo.
It's gonna be good, I just know it.

FLORAL • SCARF

So it was freakin' hot today - the temperature soared into the 30s yet again. I guess that last post was a little pre-emptive and keen on my part. But eh, I never said I didn't like Summer!! Since I pledged to myself to wear more colour & less black, this outfit is definitely a thumbs up in the right direction, even though the skirt is black...hehe :)

MINKPINK floral skirt, MISS SHOP scarf worn as top, Tony Bianco clogs, Sportsgirl sequinned mini bag, Diva & Sportsgirl rings, Mum's necklace.

I LOVELOVELOVE the print of my mum's scarf which she bought from Myer before Xmas, and it turned into a cute little crop top that kept me cool today. Paired it with this skirt which I usually only wear with plain black or white tops. I saw an awesome streetstyle pic of clashing prints on a girl and, well, bam! This outfit. Wore it to the supermarket & got a lot of weird stares. It was actually really cathartic being bright and stared at, seeing as I've been an invisible retail worker the last few days slogging away at work.

Anyway clashing, loud and bright prints are definitely going to keep appearing on here - and considering all the new collections I've been seeing for A/W '13 I'd say that colour is definitely here to stay!

Hope everyone is having a lovely Wednesday...Happy hump day!! ;)

Autumn Essentials - 2013

Autumn Essentials by stacy

Minkpink Jumper | Wrangler Hi-Twiggy Jeans | Topshop chunky leather boots | Alexander Wang 'Diego' bag | Forever New curb chain necklace | MAC Saigon Summer lipstick | DIPTYQUE tea candle

So please excuse the 'punny' title of this post; I really can't resist, it happens more often than it should and it makes me look dorky, but guys, it's nearly Autumn! My favourite season by far. The weather is still warm, yet the sun is never harsh. Leaves on the trees shed their greens which turn to golds, reds and browns fluttering around like butterflies.

It is a truly beautiful season, but also one where us Melburnians must be prepared for any sort of weather ;) Top of my list of essentials for the upcoming month is jumper which is lightweight yet warm, and can be layered with a coat or scarf on those cooler days, or worn on its own in pleasant weather. I recommend a big animal print, such as a tiger, because animal print is still going strong this year, but you don't want to overdo the leopard print. Why not a massive tiger face which will not only be totally on trend, but also really cute too.

Add pair of high-waisted dark skinny jeans that you can mix 'n match with any combination of tops, including crops for going out or long drapey tees for lazy days. A statement pair of boots is a must too, because these will take you through to the Winter months, and of course a nude lip like the MAC one above can do no wrong in my eyes. The chunky necklace I added in because it will definitely take this/any other outfit from day to night.

Last but not least...a yummy scented candle to burn in your room to keep things cosy and sweet!! :)

Hope everyone in Aus in enjoying the last few weeks of Summer. What things will you guys be investing in for Autumn?
